Featured in Dutch Design Week 2022, Twig Kit is a permutable display kit that can be pieced together according to different programmatic needs and spaces. The system is designed so that different pieces can be combined to suit the space. It is composed of wood stems which are supported by circular, triangular, or square concrete bases. Branches connect the stems to form the system that accommodates a range of add-ons such as shelves, mirrors, and storage boxes. Because the design is modular, flexible, mobile and playful, Twig Kit allows for countless variations and combinations.
The system was first created as a design solution for a Lebanese Concept House. The client’s brief was simply to create a display system. However, the instability the country has been facing added additional constraints to the brief. We set out to create a system that has the ability to constantly adapt to the user’s ever changing needs or settings, to give it resilience and longevity.
Twig Kit is a manifestation of Twig's belief in user centered design practice and thinking, a world that is built at the intersection of ethical practice, feasibility, viability, and desirability. The resulting design is flexible and modular, and harnesses the field’s iterative nature.
